Hi Everyone,

This morning while unpacking from my recent move I heard my first Annual
Cicada of the season in Nanjemoy. It seems to be early, but was a treat
to hear because we did not have the Periodical Cicada down here.

From the shore of Nanjemoy Creek at a location that is very close as the
heron flies to the TNC Heronry, I already have a great start to the yard
list. Louisiana Waterthursh on mud flats appearing to be calling to
young, Pileated Woodpecker outside the kitchen window, Bald Eagle, Great
Blue Heron, pair of Yellow Billed Cuckoo to mention a few. What a great
start to a yard list! If you are going to be in Charles County birding
let me know and I may be able to join you now. George Jett, Gwen Brewer
and Carol Ghebehlain(sorry if I butchered the spelling Carol) have a new
birding neighbor in the County now. I look forward to birding with them
and others in Charles County and the rest of Southern Maryland. With
school out I am available some week days too.

I hope to see many of you on the MDOPSREY list serve visit this area and
enjoy the wonders of Southern Maryland. You will never forget your
visit.

Naturally and for the first post living in Nanjemoy,
Mike Callahan
