(1) Along the C&O Canal this afternoon north of Sheperdstown, at approx.
milepost 74 or 75, I heard VERY loud shrill whistles coming from the woods.
It had that urgent young-bird sound, and appeared to be coming from more
than one place. My guess is maybe they were fledgling Broad-winged Hawks --
is this plausible?
(2) Urgent RFI: Tomorrow afternoon I expect to be near the Naval Academy in
Annapolis with a few unscheduled hours. Any birding suggestions (that don't
require a scope) would be appreciated. Feel free to reply off-list. Thanks
