Re: Hawks on C&O? Also: RFI Annapolis

Helpful people contacted me off-list on both these questions. Regarding the
hawks, apparently Broad-wingeds are indeed a possibility in that area (just
above Sheperdstown on the C&O Canal).

Regarding where to go birding in Annapolis near the Naval Academy, at Al
Haury's suggestion I went to Greenbury Point yesterday and had a great time.
I came across two pairs of Blue Grosbeaks, including an adult male carrying
food (whose Atlas block is this in?). Other highlights included lengthy
looks at several singing Chats and Common Yellowthroats, lots of Indigo
Buntings, and an Orchard Oriole. A Bobwhite was calling from the field near
the visitor center. There was an eye-level nest with a baby Mockingbird in
it, and many Osprey were flying about carrying fish (a nest platform is just
offshore). It was a delightful place to visit on such a beautiful afternoon.
