See Life Paulagics is running a pelagic out of Belmar, NJ on Saturday, August
21. This is the classic time of year to search for White-faced Storm-Petrel.
In the last dozen years or so I've personally seen 7 of these little cuties
from NJ ports, so finding one is a very real possibility, not an enormous
long-shot. Be sure to check out the photos of last year's White-faced on our
web site!

Long-tailed Jaeger (mostly juveniles) are another good possibility at this time
of year. Don't be scared. With a good look, ID of many juvenile Long-taileds
is relatively straight-forward, and we will be announcing all of the field
marks on any bird we see. We had an incredibly cooperative bird last year, and
pictures of this bird are also up on our web site.

Other possible species at this time of year are Cory's, Greater, Manx, and
Audubon's Shearwaters, Wilson's and Leach's Storm-Petrel, Red-necked Phalarope,
South Polar Skua, Pomarine and Parasitic Jaegers, and Common, Arctic, Black,
and Bridled Terns.

Our target destination is the Hudson Canyon. Time will be spent in both NJ and
NY waters. Here are the details.

    Time: 4:30 AM - about 6:30 PM
Cost: $115 (incl. tip for mates)
    Boat: 80' Suzie Girl
    Leave: Belmar Marina, Belmar, NJ

For further information, E-mail us at , call us, or see our
web site.

Hope to see you aboard!
