Before you set out on the Trail, be sure to read A Walk in the Woods:Rediscovering America on the Appalachian Trail by Bill Bryson.  It's a terrific book with "laugh-out-loud" passages.

   I picked up a copy of Walking the Appalchian Trail by Larry Luxenberg.
  If you haven't read it, it is a very good read, and now it is one of my life
  dreams to do a "thru-hike" of the entire trail (someday, someday!).
