The female Northern Bobwhite that Paul Woodward spotted at Hughes Hollow
on Tuesday was strolling up and down the path between the impoundments
this afternoon.

       A very active and pleasant day- seem like there were more birds
around than some days a month ago.  After checking the wires along River
Rd and the impoundments, I walked the towpath from Sycamore Landing to
Horsepen Hiker-Biker, back through the fields to the impoundments, and
along the southern wood edge to Sycamore Landing Rd..
      Added two new species to the 80 or so potential breeders I have
found here already this season.  A female NORTHERN BOBWHITE flew across
the road near Willard Rd.  I got close enough to see it wasn't banded.
It was acting like a wild bird, but its origin has to be questioned.
Heard two SORAS calling briefly from the large impoundment.
       Other highlights were- 8 RUBY-THROATED HUMMINGBIRDS (they were
scarce on my counts), RED-HEADED WOODPECKERS feeding 2 immatures in the
area I found them last week and another possible pair nearby, 3 singing
VEERIES ( at least one territory I didn't know about) a singing CERULEAN
WARBLER, and a AM REDSTART feeding a flegling.
     On the migration front there was an adult RING-BILLED GULL flying
downriver and 43 ROUGH-WINGED SWALLOWS along River Rd( I had seen the
first one here on June 20, a little earlier than normal).
