Hi All last eveing between the storms I Went to Kent Island to run
an errand so on the way home I stopped at Kent Narrows Wells Cove Rd to
See if I could Get a better look at the Tern Chicks to get a Good count .
The adults helped out by leaving the chicks . two times while I was
there . I could only See 2 there. Lighing was bad A hard rain shower
came in but stopped in a few minutes . Several Other Adult Common Terns
Stopped on the Cement Block Jetty for a brief visit to the nesting
group. By This time It was getting close to dark I first heard
call than saw 2 smallish dumpy herons fly overhead than land on the
cement block Jetty on the north end near the bridges . I set up the
spotting scope on them they turned out to be 2 immature Black - Crowned
Night - Herons I watched them till they went to the hidden side of
the Jetty on a small ledge there . I started up my Truck and as I did
another Black - Crowned Night - Heron landed on the near shoreline
next to the abandoned seafood packing plant . In the very little Light
left aided by the nite lighting in the area It was plain to see the
adult Black Crown hunting Supper. These 3 Birds were my first For Qeen
Annes Co Black - Crowned Night - Herons. This area while not a
wilderness experince and largely developed lots Of boat traffic on nice
days Can and does produce Some great Birds from time to time. Last nite
I had the boat landing to myself except for the Bar pattrons on the far
side. As a Tunder Storm was fast coming in I left went home. In
the space of 11 days I got 2 new County birds. Wow. Happy
