Had the first juvenile Ruby-throated Hummingbird of the year show up at our feeders this morning. The first time he showed, he drank for a very long period. 2nd and 3rd times, he came toward me, hovering, checking me out (assuming that it was still the same one). 4th time, a male adult chased him away. There were at least 2 adult males that showed up (one appeared to be putting on weight) and 1 adult female.

There've been lots of juveniles of many species in the yard, including:

Red-bellied Woodpeckers (at least 2, maybe 3 juveniles)
Downy Woodpeckers (2 wi red on top of head; 1 adult female in molt)
Pileated Woodpecker (fuzzy looking crest; very awkward, gangly)
Northern Cardinals (adults were heavy into molting)
Gray Catbirds
Carolina Chickadees (at least 2 juveniles; 2 adults, molting)
Tufted Titmouse (1 wing-fluttering begging juvenile, 1 adult in molt)
Carolina Wren (2 juveniles)
Baltimore Oriole (1 juvenile, 1 adult male)
Common Grackles (lots)
House Sparrows (lots)
