Hi to all,

Seeing Fred's post reminded me that Marty Cribb and I saw 12 Cattle Egrets
yesterday afternoon at the end of Long Neck Road in Scotland, Maryland.
They were up near the old house feeding in the grass. On several occassions
they took off and flew in a circle just to return again to the same area.
As always I took several pictures and we enjoyed seeing how graceful they
were when they flew. The birds appeared to be all juveniles as they had
little color. Also, right on the curve we saw two indigo buntings and
several different dragon flies and a monarch butterfly. We have never gone
down this road that we didn't see something of interest.

Thanks to Patty Craig we also took the opportunity on a nearby road to
locate and photograph a flower species that is endangered here in Maryland.
We got to see the lovely Yellow Fringed Orchid. It was not the normal three
foot tall as it is located in an area that had been mowed so most of them
were only 6 to 8 inches tall. What a treat to see such a beautiful plant.
Thank you Patty!!!!
Happy Birding to all,
Pat Rose and Marty Cribb
Callaway, St Mary's County, Maryland

This afternoon (7/18) I saw 7 Cattle Egrets in the field at the MD 3 and
St. Stephen's Church Road intersection (just north of Crofton).
