Interesting story by Dan Koeppel on obsessive birding in this month's
Backpacker magazine. The featured birder, Peter Kaestner, hails from
Baltimore - anybody know of him? Although personally I don't pay much
attention to lists, I found the article interesting - didn't know there were
so many species, among other things. Koeppel (is he the same Dan Koeppel who
covers biking and other sports?) is working on a book entitled "To see every
bird on Earth."
