Tricolored Heron Lock 10

11AM Thurs 1 stopped at lock 10 (first parking lot on the Clara Barton inside the beltway). Walking straight out to the river I flushed a juvie Tricolored Heron in the channel in front of the island. It flew downstream and out between the islands to the Potomac main channel. Crossing over to
the next island down I had a view form the American Legion bridge down to Sycamore Island, but could not see the heron.
