Quite a bit slower today at Rock Creek Park DC, and this was (in light of
the northerly breezes and cool night) a little unexpected. It appeared that
quite a few birds moved out and not too many in -- many fewer Catbirds and
House Wrens today than yesterday. More Scarlet Tanagers however.
Early on the ridge, a bit breezy and a few warblers, notably 4 Magnolias
together, plus Red-eyed Vireos and a Black-throated Blue female. The
Maintenance Yard was a bit more active, but it appeared many of the birds
may have been hangers-on from yesterday. Again, good views of a cooperative
Yellow-bellied Flycatcher as well as a Least FC, a (the same?) dull
Nashville was in the same location.
Warblers: Blue-winged (1), Black-and-White (2), Black-throated Blue (1),
Chestnut-sided (1), Magnolia (5), Nashville (1), Parula (1), Redstart (1),
Worm-eating (1), Yellowthroat (6).
Other migrants: Red-eyed Vireo (12), Baltimore Oriole (6), Rose-breasted
Grosbeak (1), Scarlet Tanager (8), Yellow-bellied Flycatcher (1), Least
Flycatcher (1), Wood-pewee (5), Ruby-throated Hummingbird (2), House Wren
(5).
