The Buff-Breasted sandpiper was still at the Patton turf farm around noon today. I met Glen and Sharon (sorry, we didn't do last names) along the road and we scanned the length of the farm. It was mostly on the turf in an area where it was mixed dirt with mature sod. In addition to Kildeer there were Canada Geese, and some Mourning Warblers. A Broad Winged Hawk flew in and chased the Kildeer around. Later an imm. Bald Eagle flew over. Thanks for all those posts. It was a sweet life-bird day. Glen and I were both using x45 zoom on our spotting scopes which gave us great views. A x25 zoom on my scope was also acceptable.

No Buff-breasted SP in amongst the Killdeer at the Hughes Rd. polo grounds
around 1:30 pm. Tried to check a nearby field off Sugarland Rd. that was
being plowed. I could hear more Killdeer but could not see them very well
due to heat shimmer.

I did however have success at the Patton turf farm. The Buff-breasted was
in the same area described by Clive Harris this morning. The bird was
fairly close to the road thanks to a sprinkler that was creating puddles.
There was also a single Horned Lark on the field.

A bare dirt area of the Sugarland Sod farm (off Rt. 107) also had a flock
of about 15 Horned Larks.

Thanks Clive and Mike for your posts, the Buff-breasted is a state bird for
me and the Horned Lark is a county bird.
