Birding in Carroll and Frederick counties with Debbie Terry and John Hubbell.
At Piney Run Park this morning the only warblers found were 1 Blue-winged, 6 Magnolias, 2 Redstarts, and 4 Yellowthroats. The only other migrant was a Ring-billed Gull.
At New Windsor the recent drought of the past two weeks had reduced the water level in the pond to produce good mud flats and 10 species of shorebirds were seen. We found:

Great Blue Heron 1
Great Egret 2
Green Heron 2
Mallard 10
Semipalmated Plover 1
Killdeer 6
Greater Yellowlegs 1
Lesser Yellowlegs 11
Solitary Sandpiper 2
Semipalmated Sandpiper 2
Least Sandpiper 50
Pectoral Sandpiper 2
Short-billed Dowitcher 1 juvenile
Snipe 1

At the Mason Dixon Farm in Frederick County the water level in the east pond continues to fall and there were fewer birds today:

Semipalmated Plover 2
Killdeer 25
Lesser Yellowlegs 6
Semipalmated Sandpiper 2
Least Sandpiper 35
Pectoral Sandpiper 2
