Greetings,

What started out as a dismal morning birding-wise ended on a great note for
me today. I tried Turkey Point this morning at dawn but was fogged out.
Not haveing a lot of time to wait the for the fog to lift, I decided to
head home (ten minutes north) and spend the few hours, before I had to go
to work, relaxing on the back porch. Upon my arrival home I found a pair of
Wood Ducks in the cove. Next to appear was a Great Egret -(not common to
the cove). A few minutes later I saw a Black and White Warbler moving
through the trees. I decided to get up and look for birds in the yard -
figuring I'd find a few migrant passerines. Unfortunatly I didnt find any
more warblers but i was treated to only the second view of Red-breasted
Nuthatch that I've had in my yard! Seems a little early, but I know one
was seen at Turkey Point last weekend. In addition to the nuthatch, I was
happy to see a lone Broad-winged Hawk flying over the yard headed due south
toward the Turkey Point Hawkwatch. I beleive the Broad-winged is a new yard
bird, but I am not sure about that? At any rate there are a few things
moving this morning in fog.

Good birding,

PS: -Yesterday in the cove in front of my house I had a Least Tern. This
is the first LETE that I've had in the yard since July! Also, "my"
kingfisher has returned to the cove in the past week. I don't know if its
the same one (i like to think it is) -but we have at least one Belted
Kingfisher in front of our house most ice-free days between September and
April. She is conspicuously absent in the summer though.
