Hi all,
Nothing really special to note except this morning I saw a Veery feeding in
a large cherry tree with a flock of Robins. They were feeding on Virginia
creeper berries, poison ivy berries and wild grapes, as they have been all
week. The Veery was only the second sighting for me of this species here
(home/yard list), the last was in Sept 1990! And way back then the habitat was even a
bit better, with many of the old trees having disappeared over the years.
Habitat here is really not at all attractive to the thrushes, so anything
outside of robin or bluebird is of note. Also in the group was a single male
Scarlet Tanager.
Last evening I saw my first Ruby-crowned Kinglet of the season, feeding in
a large old cedar tree, while out with the dog.

Better birding to all,

Rick Sussman
