No one seems to be sending in reports from Rock Creek these days, so I thought I would send in a little note on what I saw on a short visit this morning.

On the ridge, the main open area usually frequented by birds and birders was unproductive this morning - at least for me. I had better luck at the Equitation field, further down, where a mixed flock of warblers included Parula (2 birds), Nashville (1), Tennesseee (1), Black and White (2), Chestnut-sided (1), Magnolia (perhaps as many as 5), Black-throated Green (similar numbers to Magnolia), Blackpoll (at least 2 birds), Pine (a delightfully dull bird, presumably 1w female, feeding with the Blackpoll) and Blackburnian (1). Also on the Ridge were Swainson's Thrush, Scarlet Tanager and Yellow-billed Cuckoo.

A quick trip to the Maintenance Yard added only Yellowthroat to the warblers list, though several of the species seen on the ridge also turned up here. It was quite birdy though, with Chipping Sparrow, Indigo Bunting, Rose-breasted Grosbeak and many Peewee, and some Phoebe coming through. No sign of the White-throated Sparrow I saw there on Sunday morning.

Regards
