There were two Black-crowned Night Herons along the back side of a flooded
Schoolhouse Pond (Upper Marlboro) this morning. One was an adult and the
other a juvenile. At one point I had both in my scope at the same time at
fairly close range. 3 Great Blue Herons, 1 Great Egret, and 1 Green Heron
were also present. Also seen were 15 Wood Ducks, about 40 Canada Geese
and Mallards, 1 Belted Kingfisher, and 1 Greater Yellowlegs. The backside
of the pond was flooded, with about 3 inches of water along the trail at
one spot.
