Hi --

We decided to go to KAG this morning in hopes that Paul Pisano's Sora would
still be around, and we did managed to hear it call twice but distantly. No
prolonged "conversations" -- I guess we do not "speak Sora" as well as Paul
does!

The only other birds of note in the Gardens were two later Great Egrets and
lots of Myrtle Warblers.

Kenilworth Park proved more interesting -- we had good views of MARSH WREN
in the no-mow area, as well as White-crowned Sparrows, both good in D.C. A
small movement of raptors, best of which was a MERLIN which attracted the
aggressive attention of the two resident Kestrels until Mr. Merlin decided
"enough of this game" and turned tables, chasing the male Kestrel all over
the ball fields, jinking and turning. I have never seen a Kestrel fly so
fast! Many many (thousands) of Robins and hundreds of R-W Blackbirds going
over, very impressive.

Birds seen: Palm Warbler (8, 1 Western), Yellowthroat (3), Yellow-rumped W.
(~25), Ruby-crowned Kinglet (1), BLUE GROSBEAK (1), Indigo Bunting (1),
Savannoh Sparrow (6), Field Sp. (1-2), White-crowned Sp. (3), White-throated
Sp. (~25), Swamp Sp. (6), House Wren (2), MARSH WREN (1), Gray Catbird (3),
Eastern Phoebe (3), Great Egret (2), Cooper's Hawk (1), Sharp-shinned Hawk
(3), MERLIN (1), Red-tailed Hawk (1), Chimney Swift (3), plus SORA heard
only.
