Hi Everyone,

After a long, busy week, I was delighted to be given the day off of work.
What to do with a perfect fall morning?

Here are some highlights from dawn to lunch at Terrapin Nature Area:

Canada Geese - 14 in formation
Wood Ducks - 9, mostly beautiful young birds
NORTHERN BOBWHITE - 1, a nice surprise!
Northern Flickers - 10+, very active and vocal
Spotted Sandpiper - 1
BLUE-HEADED VIREO - 1-2, two great looks, but close enough together that it
was likely the same bird.
RED-BREASTED NUTHATCH - my first ever in migration :)
BROWN CREEPER - 1
House Wren - 1
Gray Catbirds - 10+; still plenty at Terrapin today
Song Sparrows - 20+
White-throated Sparrows - 5, to include first singing I've heard this season

Can you ask for better weather? Wearing a jacket in the chilly morning, and
slinging it over the backpack for the comfortable afternoon: perfect!

Hope everyone gets out this weekend!

Bill
