I've never heard of J-bird, but if anyone downloads it and uses, please
report to the list if you like it. I, too, have resisted buying one of
these programs because I have all my records in clunky Excel files. Not the
best way to store records, but it works and I dread the thought of
re-entering them all.

This discussion came up on another list, and one of the participants sent
the following (below). If Bird Recorder is able to import Excel files, then
perhaps it could also import db files. If anyone has tried either types of
importing with the program, or even tried the program at all, your thoughts
would be appreciated.

I know there are problems moving software back and forward across the
Atlantic, but I use Bird Recorder

http://home.surewest.net/bruwebb/BirdRecorder32.htm which will (if you
configure your records correctly) import from Excel.

A new upgrade/release is planned as Wildlife Lister.

I use the bird and mammal databases and find them user friendly, and they
deliver checklists and life lists and county lists and the sort of output I
use.

I see from their website that they accept credit cards so you might like to
investigate.
