Folks
Yesterday (10/27) highlights for my Port Tobacco and Allen's Fresh trip were:
American Bittern - Allen's Fresh - photo
Common Nighthawk - Allen's Fresh - a very late migrant.
2 American Kestrel - Allen' s Fresh - it's harder to find this species.
Male Sharp-shinned hunting the 200+ Yellow-rumped Warblers - Allen's Fresh
Female Indigo Bunting - Allen's Fresh - latish.
House Bird Highlights yesterday - Waldorf, MD 20603.
1 Winter Wren - #125 for the yard year list - photographed - 10/27
1 Red-breasted Nuthatch - hopefully settling in for the winter - 10/27
6 Purple Finch - 10/27 - been around for a week but likely to move on.
On Sunday, October 24 house highlights were:
Hermit Thrush
Both Kinglets
Yellow-bellied Sapsucker
Adult Red-headed Woodpecker - this bird has been around a couple weeks now. Maybe it will stay close for the winter. That would be a treat. I hope it does not get eaten by any "raptors" of any kind.
On Sunday I photographed a late male Ruby-throated Hummingbird (RUHU) at a private residence in P.G. County. Yes a RUHU, unfortunately nothing more.
My October species list is at 114. September I had 127 species. Month list make it seem like you are making progress, but it is interesting to see the change in species found. Common Nighthawk in late October was a surprise.
