What appeared to be a Sharpie was stirring up the Dupont Circle/Embassy Row Starlings, etal, around 10:30 this morning. Then as I glanced directly overhead I had a great view of a handsome adult Red-tailed Hawk above my Q Street rooftop. I watched it cruise SE over Dupont Circle & beyond, rapidly gaining elevation. A couple minutes later I raised my binos to look at an unusual plane when 2 birds caught my attention. The second was an immature Redtail, working its way west.

The first was a small flycatcher that was flying directly toward me when I lifted my glasses to look at the plane. Didn't catch any details of the plane, and few of the flycatcher. It lit briefly, and appeared small with a distinctly yellow breast. When the Redtail appeared, the flycatcher disappeared and didn't return.

No sign today of the Red-shouldered Hawk, which I saw & heard again on Saturday. Nary a crow in sight - Saturday or today - though a couple blue jays tried harassing the Red-shoulder, to no avail.
