Last year about this time I posted our experience of watching an adult eagle catch a fish and land it by swimming with it to shore. The fish was just too big for it to fly with so it swam to shore by using its wings.
When I posted the message I assumed there would be some comments related by others with a similar experience, or even amazement at what we had seen. As there was no reply, I thought perhaps my story was seen as less than believable, and unworthy of reply.

Yesterday we observed the same eagle land another very large fish in the same way only yards from where she had caught the fish last year. I say the same eagle because we have been observing the eagles on Pomonkey Creek for almost two years now and have learned to identify the two pairs who make the creek their home. I am hoping that someone has seen something similar and will post their observations.

We also watched yesterday as another pair, an adult male and sub-adult female, floated over the creek until the male caught a perch. The two of them soared and dived together in unison for about a minute until the male dropped the fish for the female to have when they were just inches away from each other in the air. It was virtually a hand-off. We often see adult eagles swoop down on a juve (osprey or eagle) and take his fish after it has been dropped to the water, but never such an artful exchange.
