I talked with Elliot and Jim Peters around 11:30 and they informed me that
Brant were no longer visible. So I came back to the Fort around 2:45pm after
class and after the tour groups had left. I walked from the parking lot to the
marsh and then counterclockwise around the Fort on the seawall path. I found
the Brant not 100 feet from the parking lot after completing the entire
circuit. The 2 birds were isolated and then were chased off by an immature Cooper's
Hawk. I was hoping for Goshawk since it was going after decent sized prey,
but great looks at the bird perched proved otherwise. Two Field Sparrows along
the marsh edge were the only other things I thought notable. Not very birdy
at all.
