Bird Crashes Against Window

NEWTON PL. NW, 400 block, Oct. 29. Animal control received a report about a woodcock sitting on a sidewalk unable to fly. An animal control officer determined that the bird had crashed against a window and was stunned. The bird was held at the city shelter pending transfer to a wildlife rehabilitation center.

********************* My note on the location************************
This location is North of the Washington Hospital Center, and near the Armed Forces Retirement Home, which I suspect is a bird rich area for this part of the city, boasting 276 acres with two fishing ponds and a golf course. This spring, we had a Woodcock in the Rock Creek Park Golf Course, so it doesn't seem out of the realm of possibility.
