And shooting sandhill cranes is not a violation of the law? You mean that
there is a season on sandhill cranes? And the rationale for shooting them?
Their feathers? Their meat? The thrill?

If I am not mistaken, shooting a whooping crane is a violation of several
FEDERAL laws: the migratory bird treaty and the endangered species act. If
left to the locals, this act may very well be swept under the cornfield.
Federal USF&WS enforcement officials should be involved.
