This report is submitted on behalf of Jan Reese who regularly surveys the
bird species of Poplar Island. On Thursday, November 11th, there were 20
BROWN PELICANS out there (first time he has seen them this year). Also
present were seven species of sandpipers including a small flock of PURPLE
SANDPIPERS. Lots of ducks were present, dominated by Green-winged Teal, but
also quite a few Shovelers.
