Hi All,

I've often heard Blue jays imitating Red-tailed hawks, but this morning here
in Rohrersville I observed some interesting associated behavior. A single
jay flew into an oak in our backyard, then proceeded to call very loudly,
red-tailed style. All of the birds that were feeding on both sides of the
house scattered for cover - the jay was obviously "guarding" a platform
feeder just below the oak.

Another reason why corvids are my favourite group of passerines!!

Also seen this past week at "Broken Wallet Farm":

Purple Finches (many males and females)
Fox Sparrows
White-crowned sparrows
