Tom Fry,
I have very limited experience with Mongolian birds. I was their on
business for a week in November and did a short trip to the Gobi to
visit some herders. We saw:
Raven
Red-billed Chough
Magpie,
Crow (1-2 sp), maybe also Rooks
Great Tits
Lammergiers
Rough-legged Hawks
Kites (black?), possibly other vultures,
numerous larks of various sp.
among others
Best for me were the choughs which I've never seen in such numbers. I
didn't have my binoculars along or a guidebook since I knew it would be
very cold and my time would be limited. Summers are supposed to be
spectacular in Mongolia. What will you do there?
I'm also Yahoo group and somebody posted a bunch of
digi-pics from Mongolia a few weeks ago. Might find more from them if
you search that list.
