For the last few days there has been a raft of 1000+ Canvasbacks moving up and down the Potomac River between Fenwick and Pomonkey Point. They are accompanied by much smaller numbers of Common and Hooded Merganser, Ring-necked Duck, Lesser Scaup, Mallard, Black Duck, American Widgeon, American Coot (1), Gadwall (2). There are also several hundred Tundra Swan a little further north and several hundred Buffleheads milling about near them. We believe we saw a female Common Goldeneye on Pomonkey Creek, but to be sure, I have emailed George Jett a picture to verify our id. We have not seen Pintails in a few weeks. We have not seen a Redhead this year.

Forgot to mention the Canadas who are everywhere.

Happy New Year!
