All,
A flawed tribal funding agreement for the National Bison Range was
signed by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service on December 15.
Congressional hearings are needed to address problems with the
agreement.

Problem:
On December 15, under pressure from the Interior Department, the U.S.
Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) signed an annual funding agreement (AFA)
with the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes (CSKT) that hands over
approximately half of the positions and budget at the National Bison
Range to the Tribe. The flawed agreement would hinder effective
management of the refuge by FWS, expose refuge volunteers to lawsuits,
potentially pull resources from other refuges like yours and force
taxpayers to pay for the huge added costs imposed by this agreement.

Solution:
Tell your elected officials in Congress that major problems in the
agreement need to be addressed and urge them to request hearings in the
House and Senate wildlife subcommittees.

Action Needed:
Click on the appropriate link below to utilize the NWRA's Refuge Action
Network. It makes taking action on refuge issues easy and is an
effective way to contact elected officials and other decision-makers.
Tell Congress the proposed agreement with the CSKT is bad for the
National Bison Range, bad for refuge volunteers, bad for taxpayers and
bad for the Refuge System.

Deadline for responding:
Please take action by (as soon as possible).
