Happy New Year!

My "backyard" Screech Owls started off the morning, followed soon by American Crows cawing, and Carolina Wrens putting their two cents in.

I went for a short woods walk, hearing American Robins, American Goldfinches, seeing Juncos & Whitethroats & Cardinal, and both Hairy and Downy Woodpeckers.

Down on the Bay Mallards awaited food (?), and a single Horned Grebe dove in the shallows near the Buffleheads. Offshore about 400 Ruddy Ducks snoozed, an Oldsquaw--oops=Long-tailed Duck called and so did a Common Loon!

Ring-billed Gulls flew by. I went back to breakfast.
