Hello All,
The Oak Grove year is off to a fairly typical January start (quite unlike last year). White-Breasted Nuthatches continue at our feeder. Two there plus an additional one on Wild Turkey Rd made for a high count of 3. The best activity was a mixed feeding flock first observed on North Oak Grove Rd south of the RR tracks and then chased to the hedgerow along the tracks on Horseshoe Rd (DE). It included 25 juncos, 14 House Finch, 10 Goldfinch, 7 Bluebirds; 8 Song, 6 White-Throat, 3 Field and 3 Chipping Sparrows. The Chippers are the first January record here. 9 Savannah Sparrows in three locations (with the initial sighting of this flock, also on Wild Turkey and Kinder Rd) was also a good showing.
On 1/8 a small flock of about 700 Snow Geese were on Oak Grove Rd at the state line, but contained nothing more unusual than 10 blues. A flyby GB Heron is also a scarce winter visitor this far inland.
In non-countable bird news, a peacock has escaped, presumably from the neighbors that keep a variety of chickens, ducks, etc. It has adopted our yard and roosts in the same tree (same branch) every night. He has been named George.

Good Birding,
