Frank,

No offense, but the population of your VT is almost 620,000 in an area of
9,250 square miles meaning a population density of 66 people per square
mile, while the population of just Washington DC is 572,000 in just 68.2
square miles (not including the rest of the metro area), which makes that
pop. density just under 8,400 people per square mile.

Now I'm not defending the occasional DC Area birder who goes a little over
the edge, but one has to understand the reasons behind the Snowy Owl
experience you had. I generally have noticed most birders being quite
respectful overall, and others are quick to remind those that are not.
Maybe your characterization of "idiots" was a little overboard.

Jay

Vermont we're lucky if 5 birders show up for a rare bird. Of course, we have
maple donuts and coffee.
