I received a call from a good friend of mine that lives on a farm near Sandy Point. He had a Yellow-headed Blackbird visiting his Sunflower feeder on 4 different occasions yesterday (Sunday) afternoon. The bird visited the feeder alone, however, there were many Red-winged Blackbirds in the area also, which he always has around. His and his wife's description of the bird was a perfect fit for a 1st winter Yellow-headed Blackbird. They made the identification by referring to several bird books. I went to their place late in the day with no luck as it was just after sunset and this bird plus the other Red-wings had gone off to roost. His house is next to the bay and a large area of Frag which is always full of blackbirds.
I asked him to call me if they saw the bird again today but I didn't get any calls.
