Did a little birding from the car today on my drive home from Blacksburg.
The main highlight was finding Lapland Longspurs in Frederick and Harford
counties.

The Frederick birds were on Rt 85 just N of the intersection with Oland Rd.
There were approximately 800 Horned Larks in several broken flocks. The
most longspurs that I saw at one time was 3, but I suspect there were up to 10
because I could hear others calling in flyover flocks while looking at the othe
rs. At Lilypons, a Savannah and Swamp Sparrow were feeding with the
White-throats, Songs, and Juncoes.

In Harford, I found a single longspur feeding with about 80 Horned Larks on
Bradenbaugh Rd just east of the intersection with Harford Creamery Rd.
County bird!!
