George and others,

It was my guess, but it looks like she was doing
probing, search from one tree to another, no pecking.

I often seen male woodpeckers do most of the pecking
and females do most of the searching. I seen this kind
of behavior a lot at Cromwell Valley Park where I
spent a lot of time birding there since spring 1994. I
don't post often about birding at Cromwell Valley Park
except for special bird count especially this coming
winter bird count because of high numbers of Great
Horned Owls. Jim Meyers, his family and I study them
for years and wanted to keep this park private.
