Ospreyers,

Next Friday, February 4, 2005, you are cordially invited to attend a most interesting program entitled BIRD CONSERVATION ON 25 MILLION ACRES OF MILITARY LAND: THE DOD PARTNERS IN FLIGHT PROGRAM, presented by Chris Eberly. The program will begin at 8:00 pm in the DNR Conference Room of the Tawes Building on Rowe Boulevard in Annapolis.

Chris Eberly, Program Manager of the Department of Defense Partners In Flight program, will present an overview of DoD's bird conservation program. Sites will be featured from the tropics to the arctic. The Department of Defense manages 25 million acres of land. While the military training mission can be destructive in nature, military lands offer incredible refuge and habitat for biodiversity, including birds. DoD has participated in the Partners in Flight initiative since 1991, and Chris has been employed as the full-time program manager since 1997. Various opportunities for public involvement in conservation and bird watching activities on military lands will also be discussed. Chris has a B.S. in computer science from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. He returned to graduate school at The University of Georgia and earned an M.S. in 1996 in natural resources and ornithology. Chris received the national Partners in Flight Leadership Award in 2001, and is currently Chair of the national Partners in Flight Implementation Committee. Chris rents office space from American Bird Conservancy in The Plains, VA, 40 miles west of our nation's capital.
