At 4PM on Friday an adult Red-throated Loon was at Little Seneca Reservoir,
between the Rt121 bridge and the dam. I have never seen one in January in the
capital area. They are more likely as spring or fall migrants, OCT-DEC and
MAR-MAY. At 5:22 it took off and began climbing, making large circles around the
lake. At 5:28 it was very high and headed southeast. Two hutchinsii geese came
in to the west side of the bridge a few minutes later. The two Eared Grebes
were present.
