Greetings all:

I have a two month internship opportunity for someone who can assist me in
trapping endangered Delmarva fox squirrels at Blackwater NWR. Below is the

BIOLOGICAL INTERNS (1-2) needed at Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge in
Cambridge, Maryland, March 14 to May 20, 2005. This is an excellent
opportunity to gain valuable work experience on a national wildlife refuge
and develop contacts with professional biologists in the U.S. Fish and
Wildlife Service. Interns will be hired as part of a study of the
ecological effects of prescribed fire, including effects on endangered
Delmarva Fox Squirrels and forest-interior dwelling birds. Primary duties
will involve: (1) assisting with trapping of fox squirrels. There is also
an opportunity to gain experience with radio-telemetry and other refuge
biological activities. Preferred Qualifications: experience or interest in
small mammal trapping and wildlife research; pursuit or completion of a
degree in wildlife biology or related field; strong work ethic; physically
fit to walk 4-6 miles per day on uneven/ wet terrain; ability to work well
with others in hot, humid, and often buggy conditions. Free housing and
$200/week stipend provided. In addition, a work vehicle, rubber boots, bug
jackets, and all necessary field gear provided. Applications accepted
