Stopped by the Fort this morning hoping for the 3 scoter species seen there yesterday. I was successful finding all of them. The male Surf was out in the channel by himself while the female Black and White-winged were mixed in with the Scaup/Canvasback flock by the marsh. I didn't see the Redhead reported yesterday.

I then headed out to the Frederick Landfill and should have checked the weather before doing so as the snow was coming down pretty hard out there. By parking in a small pulloff just south of the entrance on Reichs Ford road I was able to observe all the activity. I found 3 Glaucous Gulls including one adult!! My first adult Glaucous for the state. The other were very white 1st year birds. A 2nd year Lesser Black-backed Gull was the least cooperative gull spending almost the time behind a truck and only giving me a 10 second look. An adult Great Black-backed Gull was also present. Photos were obtained of all the Glaucous Gulls and the Great Black-backed.
