Hi all,
After counting Yellow-rumped "Myrtle" before the
bend that goes around Lake Knapp, noticed one bird
different for our local female. From my binocular view
at about 15'-16' away, I can see its bright yellow
throat, entire face somewhat grayer, small area on
nape is pale, more dark on upper breast, not like our
female with white throat, less grayer on breast,
whitish/pale gray line above eye, dark auricular below
eye. Both has similar two white wing bars and yelow on
its rump and underwings.
Before getting to the Visitor Center, the path on the
right will take to you the bird before the unpaved
road curve to the right and the sign says "East?
Meadow" on left after passing the fences (Raptor
Display area) on your left and the high weedy field on
your right. It was seen on your right with small
trees, heavy thickets. There are over 300 Yellow-rump
"Myrtle" in that area. Overall over 500 across
Horsehead.
Both Myrtle and Audubon's still a subspecies???
Full list will come up tomorrow. More than 10,000
waterfowl in some area where open water available.
