Today (2/1/05) a visit to the Snow Bunting site in Queen Anne's County
(mentioned by Bob Ringler yesterday and Danny Poet a few days ago) yielded
lots of Horned Larks, and two Snow Buntings. The Snow Buntings were even so
cooperative as to land roght in front of my Truck which was parked at the
site and as far off the road as I could safely get. Those were the greatest
views of Snow Buntings that I had attained in many years.

While in the area, I searched some other places, and along Bloomingdale Road
about 1/3 mile south of John Brown Road I found three American Pipits
(perhaps the same ones as had been reported last week by Danny Poet, from
the same general region). These three, though with several Horned Larks,
seemed more tame than the larks, for they did not even fly away when I drove
slowly past them after having looked at them to my heart's content.

Yesterday, while on a fruitless (or should I say Buntingless) search for the
Buntings, I made my way over to Mason Branch Road in Caroline County and
found two Lapland Longspurs amongst over 50 Horned Larks that were sprinkled
out in small flocks along that road.
