Hi all,
I want to thank all the Maryland birders who keep this wonderful thing
alive, and especially everyone who posted about the Northern Lapwing. To
the listserve itself, the folks who found the bird, all those who told us
where to look, for the photos, the background info, a custom Mapquest map
of all things, many thanks.
Jim Felley was generous in acknowledging the Post reporter's efforts. She
was out there for the better part of three hours and looked like a well
dressed, blond haird popsicle when I saw her last. I hope she came out OK.
I called her around 1800 and told her about the good looks we got but she
was on deadline and committed to her "the beginner gets the bird" slant.
C'est la vie.
Good birding to all,
John "the dabbler" Fox
