This was the original thought when the bird first disappeared after its
discovery. However, while talking to some of the locals last week, they had
informed me that the bird had indeed failed to make an appearance for about
3 days after 2/17 but then reappeared and was seen for about two weeks
fairly consistantly in the afternoons through the time in which it was seen
last weekend and this was after most of the snows had cleared from the
fields in the area. I have contacted the individual that lives just down the
road from the Graceham Rd. site to see if he has seen it and I have not yet
received a response. I will let the list know if a positive response is
received. Hope fully the local that had threatened to know how to put an end
to the nonsense in the area didn't keep his word.
By the way. I finally received the photo of the Lapwing a local had taken
that reportedly showed two individuals. There are indeed two birds in the
photo. Unfortunatley, as suspected, they are of two different species. The
second bird was a Killdeer.
