Greetings,

Yesterday, while scouting for tomorrow's Cecil Bird Club trip around the
county for waterfowl, I took some to time to look at the Gulls in North
East. As usual there were at least 3000 gulls on the ice in the harbor and
on the field at the park. I was unable to pick out anything but 4 Lesser
Black-backed Gulls on the ice. The lighting was poor and the wind made
tedious sorting tough. I then went to the Perryville Community Park to look
for waterfowl. I was disappointed to find only a handful of ducks at the
park! Buffleheads, 2 Lesser Scaup, and a few Common Mergs along with 6
Tundra Swan were all I could see on Mill Creek. However WAY up in Furnace
bay I could see at least 500 Tundra Swans and equal numbers of Black Duck
against the heat waves (heat being a relative term this time of year).
Also in Furnace bay (2-3 miles away) were more dabler sp. and a few more
mergs and scaup sp. Along the Perry Point VA waterfront I found around 300
Canada Goose and a few more rafts of Bufflehead out on the Susquehanna
Flats. I sure hope more ducks come in for tomorrow's trip. (finger's
crossed for Red-necked Grebe!)

Good Birding,
