On 3/14 I was birding in Charles County and had just stepped onto the little
sandy beach at Chapel Point State Park ... just in time to see a very large,
very black bird with a very large, black bill pumping sedately away from me,
southward, over the middle of the Port Tobacco River. I've spent the last
five days trying to convince myself that I was seeing things. "Can't be a
Raven" "Nevermore" Problem --- Nothing else would fit. [Gwen, you've saved me
from eternal self-doubt.] The RAVEN goes on my list!
Other birds seen there that day were an even dozen Black Vultures, a first
year Bald Eagle, one Osprey, 200 Ruddy Ducks, 50 Lesser Scaup and about 200
scaup (sp), 3 Buffleheads.
