I am quite satisfied with "Pocket Guide to the Birds of Britain and
North-west Europe." Most species are given a full page with many
illustrations and a color-coded range map right on the same page. 300 pp. It
cost me $23 at Borders.

Of course, it didn't fit into my pocket.
