I birded some in Frederick Co. this morning with the highlight being a Raven flying over Rainbow Lake. This is only about 5-6 miles from the nearest point in Carroll County. Also a Phoebe and 3 Tree Swallows here.

At McKeldin Area, Patapsco Valley SP the only signs of spring were the Spring Beauty, Bluets, and Wild Pink blooming, and one Phoebe singing.

   Birds at Piney Run Park:

Horned Grebe 1
DC Cormorant - 24, the most I have seen here
Canada Goose - 50, all residents now
Wood Duck 3
Black Duck 10
Mallard 30
Ring-necked Duck 25
Lesser Scaup 3
Bufflehead 25
Hooded Merganser 4
Common Merganser 65
Ruddy Duck 60
Osprey 1
Bald Eagle 1 adult chasing the Osprey, forcing it to drop its fish, and plucking the fish out of the lake
Coot 31
Killdeer 1

At Liberty Lake in the evening:

Common Loon 3
DC Cormorant 60 adults coming to roost
Great Blue Heron 1
Canada Goose 35 residents
Wood Duck 3
Mallard 6
Lesser Scaup 1 male
Common Merganser 55
Osprey 1
Bonaparte's Gull 25
Ring-billed Gull 29
Fish Crow 65 going to roost in Baltimore
